Turkey supports a quick and fair peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and has been taking appropriate measures for this since the beginning of the conflict. Today, on November 29, Turkish Foreign Minister Mavlud Cavusoglu announced this at the meeting of Foreign Ministers of NATO member states in Bucharest.
"The conflict cannot be solved by condemnation alone, actions are necessary. "Ukraine needs a just peace, and Turkey has been achieving it since the first weeks of the war in Ukraine," says Cavusoglu.
He drew attention to Ankara's efforts to resolve the grain agreement, exchange of prisoners between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, negotiations with the leadership of the two countries, and called them examples of the success of diplomacy.
"There were other secret steps that were not made public," Cavusoglu said.
The Turkish minister also said that since the start of Russia's armed invasion of Ukraine, Turkey has not entered a single warship into the Black Sea in accordance with the Montreux Convention.
"By strictly adhering to the Montreux Convention, we prevented the escalation of tensions in the Black Sea basin. Since March, not a single warship has entered the Black Sea through the strait. "Not a single Russian military plane has passed through Turkish airspace," the minister said.
